Janel Parrish plays Mona, the crazed stalker “A” on Pretty Little Liars, and so far in Season 3 she’s been locked up in a mental institution in a catatonic state. However, new promos for Season 3, Episode 3: “Kingdom of the Blind” (airing June 19) have hinted that Mona may be faking her mental illness. Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Janel and the Young Hollywood Awards at the Hollywood Athletic Club on June 14 to discuss what lies ahead for Mona.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Based on the promos, it looks like Mona lays everything on the table. She doesn’t have to pretend to be sane anymore.
Janel Parrish: I think the question is, is she pretending? Or is she really being her? I think that’s what Season 3 is going to be delving into – finding out what’s really going on with Mona.

Anything you can say about what’s coming up?
It’s going to be fun. In one word, describing the next episode, it’s just fun. You’re going to enjoy hating her, and you’re going to be like, “Do I hate her or do I love her?” She’s kind of fun but she’s kind of crazy.

Is she just torturing Hanna?
I think so! But we’ll see what happens.

Do you think we’ll see her leave the institution?
I would love that. I would claw and get out of there and start wreaking havoc on Rosewood. That would be fun! But I don’t know what’s going to happen, so we’ll see.

Are your scenes now mostly with Hanna or will we see you interact with other people?
You’ll find out who’s been visiting Mona. A couple surprises here and there…

Is that something we’ll find out soon?
Yes.

Anything you can say about Season 3?
I think fans are finally going to start getting some answers. And you’ll find out more about Team “A” in Season 3 as well.

Are you having a blast?
I’m having the best time ever. I love it. You get to play pretend all day. You just leave yourself for a while and use your imagination, which is great. And scream! You can always throw that in there.
