The highly-anticipated Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode (Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride,” airing October 23!) is less than a week away, and we are still not over our pre-show excitement jitters! To help calm ourselves we sat down with Lindsey Shaw (Paige McCullers) to talk about Paige’s upcoming role in Season 3 and Mona’s big role in upcoming episodes.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What are some of the larger arcs of the Spring season?

Lindsey Shaw: So we know who the Betrayer is.

Well, we do. You guys don’t.

Exactly, audience. So that is so fun to watch. I mean, fun, in context to watch us. It’s almost like we’re acting as the Betrayer’s eyes, watching him when he goes into the situations because we know who he is. So it’s a very, very interesting point of view, I think, and there’s so many cool situations because Toby is so close to them. He always has been. He’s been there since the start. He has so much history there that everything is just “hello!” Like every move is so significant because you know who he is, and he’s familiar with Spencer. So that’s really cool, that dynamic between the girls and the Betrayer. For Paige and Emily, it’s that Emily sort of takes this sort of role of being strong while Paige is still going through this trauma. Oh, Lord, Mona, that’s all I’m going to say. Mona. There is that.

Can she just move in and out of the asylum like we saw in the finale?

I swear, she’s a witch with mind-control powers. Her role has only become more epic after we find out who she is which I love. They’re always taking her to new edges, and she is just the scariest villain. You know what I mean? And I just love her story, and I love how strong it’s gotten in the second half. She becomes even more of a badass which I didn’t expect.

And are we going to see her and Toby work together now that they are in cahoots?

Umm-hmm, yeah. That’s all I can say. They’re obviously a team, you know.

Do you know what Keegan’s reaction was? You must have been there for like some of this revelation?

He was so stoked. I asked him because I was like, “Dude, what do you think about all this stuff that’s happening with your character?” And just before he said any words, the hugest grin spread across the face. And he was just like, “oh, it’s so awesome, man.” He’s the most zen, cool dude. So to have him be on the A team is funny when you know him, but he’s loving it.

Don’t miss the next new episode of PLL, the Halloween special, on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
