After the intense party and big revelations in Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 9: “The Kahn Game” we had high hopes for Season 3, Episode 10: “What Lies Beneath.”

This episode features fallout from Ezra's (Ian Harding) big secret reveal last week, more development of the Caleb (Tyler Blackburn)/Hanna (Ashley Benson)/Wren (Julian Morris) triangle, some big clues about what happened to  Maya (Bianca Lawson), and "A" finally flexing his/her muscles again.

This episode features fallout from Ezra's (Ian Harding) big secret reveal last week, more development of the Caleb (Tyler Blackburn)/Hanna (Ashley Benson)/Wren (Julian Morris) triangle some big clues about what happened to Maya (Bianca Lawson), and "A" finally flexing his/her muscles again.

This episode feels oddly disjointed in some ways. On one hand you have Aria and Ezra working through their issues (and Ezra finding Maggie!), as well as Ella (Holly Marie Combs) having some romantic fun with the super cute coffee guy.

On the other hand you had some huge OMG moments. There's Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hanna (Ashley Benson) being stuck in the cabin, which is definitely scary. You have Emily kissing Nate (what!?). And then, oh yeah, there's the discovery that Maya never left Rosewood and almost certainly couldn't have been killed by Noel, Jenna, or Garrett.

Despite the slightly odd tonal shifts (and Emily and Nate's kiss. What was that!?), we really liked this episode. Our jaws were on the floor after all of the Maya twists, and the romance stuff for the Montgomery family was pretty sweet. 

Also, it bears repeating: THAT. TAPE. We are reeling. 4 stars.
