They’re multiplying! Pretty Little Liars Season 3 has been a regular “A” team parade — Mona (Janel Parrish), Toby (Keegan Allen), and now Spencer (Troian Bellisario) have all been de-hooded as members of “A’s” posse — and, according to Janel, there’s more where that came from. The PLL star dished Season 3 finale dirt to ABC Family, and fansite Pretty Little Liarsss has the footage.
“There will be a couple new members that will be revealed in the finale,” Janel said, lending added weight to the glove-filled pic PLL showrunner Marlene King tweeted late last year. Could all of those gloves belong to different “A” team members? How big is “A's" operation?
Janel also hinted that Jenna (Tammin Sursok) may make a “grand appearance” in the episode. Could Jenna be one of the “A” team members to be revealed? Now that we know “A” has a whole team of minions to do her bidding, it makes Jenna’s involvement a lot more plausible, especially given the Toby connection.
What else can we expect from the Season 3 finale? Janel was teasingly coy about someone coming back from the dead: “You did see in the Halloween episode, that hand coming out of the ground, so...could be?” Could this be related to the Red Coat Reveal? Is the un-dead person in question Ali or her twin, or are we in store for a PLL/Vampire Diaries crossover? (Because we’d be alright with that.)
Janel also talked Mona’s relationship with Hanna (Ashley Benson). The two were best buds in the year before the show started, and stayed close through the first few seasons. Even when Mona was revealed as an “A” teamer, Hanna tried to get through to her. Janel said that though Mona has “definitely tried to kill her a few times,” she thinks she has a “soft spot in her heart for Hanna.”
“[Mona] is still human and that was her only friend for a long time. She really did love Hanna, so we might see...a little bit more of that friendship coming together eventually. Who knows?” said Janel.
The interview also included a sneak peek at the finale. In it, the girls are over Spencer’s for tea and crumpets following her release from Radley. Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), and Hanna are worried about mentioning the discovery of Toby’s body in the woods (say it isn’t so!), but Hanna still has hope. After all, the body is being sent to the state coroner’s office for a reason.
“You know how I feel about hope?...It breeds eternal misery,” says a shiny, new Spencer as she descends the stairs. “We lost Toby a long time ago. We just didn’t know it.”
What is going on in that big brain of Spencer’s?! Has she really given up on Toby and her friends or is this all just an act? Who else is on the “A” team? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
