Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Review: What'd You Think of the Episode?
Finally! After what felt like years of waiting (and was actually, oh, about three months) Pretty Little Liars is back in our lives with the Season 3 premiere (Season 3, Episode 1: “It Happened ‘That Night’”).
The episode opens on Memorial Day, one year after Alison’s body was found and a couple months after Maya’s death. Emily has picked up a penchant for drinking and during a drunken stupor she decides to dig up Alison’s grave. The girls find Emily standing over Ali’s empty grave and crafty Spencer figures out that this was all a trap set up by a mysterious person (“A”?) to frame the girls for … something to do with Ali’s murder. It’s not entirely clear. But very creepy nonetheless! And poses a big problem for the girls as now they have a big secret they want to keep hidden from everyone they know.
Speaking of creepy, Mona is in a catatonic state and isn’t responding to any of Hanna’s secret visits. What’s even more shocking is that we find out that Mona is having hallucinations about Alison visiting her in a red coat. So maybe that blonde in a red coat at the end of Season 2 was imaginary Ali all along?
Speaking of dead Ali, Garrett is still in jail for Ali’s murder as he awaits trial. He’s been trying to contact Spencer and eventually gets a face-to-face with her after she gets questioned by the police about the gravedigging. He tells Spencer that the police want to link her and the Little Liars to Ali’s murder, and he’s willing to help if she agrees to have her slick lawyer mom represent him in court.
What’s even more shocking is that the girls are still getting tortured by an unknown person, who is now using the gravedigging as a way to torture the girls. And, Emily seems to think that she was carried off to the grave in the trunk of a car, but she can’t really remember since she was blackout drunk. Don’t drink and sleuth, kids!
What did you think of the premiere episode? Was the lack of the big “Who is A” mystery enough to keep you drawn in? Does this new mystery satisfy you?
