Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Spoiler: Did Shay Mitchell Just Reveal Who Killed Maya?
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pretty Little Liars’ Shay Mitchell (Emily) drops some major “A” hints as we head into Season 3. Namely, what is “A”’s connection to Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) sudden death (Season 2, Episode 25: “UnmAsked”)?

So much happened in the Season 2 finale, that we almost forgot to contemplate how Mona’s (Janel Parrish) big reveal conveniently occurred on the same night as Maya’s murder. In the interview, Shay is asked how the “A” reveal has changed things for Emily, and she replied, “I think it changes things for Emily because you’ve just killed her girlfriend. ‘A’ has done other things before that have been quite serious, but now you’ve killed somebody who's extremely close to her.”
Is Shay clueing us in to the fact that Mona and her “A” team are definitely responsible for killing Maya? If so, it seems sort of impossible for Mona to have attended the masquerade ball and simultaneously kill Maya. So was it the mystery girl in the red dress? The Black Swan? And who could be so devoted to Mona that she or he would kill someone for her?
Also mentioned in Shay’s interview is the fact that something big and shocking happens right away in the Season 3 premiere (Season 3, Episode 1: “It Happened ‘That Night’”). Hopefully it will be something just as exciting as the moment in the Season 2 winter premiere (Season 2, Episode 14: "Through Many Dangers, Toils, and Snares") when the Liars got “A”’s cell phone!
Catch an all-new Pretty Little Liars when Season 3 premieres on Tuesday, June 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
