Last week on Pretty Little Liars, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) spent some alone time with British hottie, Wren (Julian Morris), and if Julian’s tease of a tweet is anything to go on, there may be more where that came from in next week’s episode (Season 3, Episode 20: “Hot Water”). What might this mean for Team Wrencer?
“Big episode coming next week... #PLL,” Julian tweeted yesterday. Really, Julian? Really?! That’s all you can tell us?
Well, to be fair, it does give us a few hints. First of all, it sounds like Wren is definitely in next week’s ep. We recently lamented the lack of non-private detective people Spencer is opening up to, so it is good to know that her “sessions” with Dr. Wren will continue. Even if she keeps tricking him into driving wherever Mona (Janel Parrish) is and rugby tackling the clever creep to the ground, we’d still find their interaction entertaining.
Now that Spencer and Toby (Keegan Allen) are over, there’s room in Spence’s life for someone new (or old, in this case). There has been something between Spencer and Wren since Season One, but it was never the right time to act on it. We know from the promo of next week’s episode that “A” is threatening to take out one of Spence’s friends if she tells them about Toby. Spencer needs someone in her life right now to have her back and, if she can’t let the other Liars in, maybe she will trust Wren.
In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Troian talked the Wrencer connection:
“They both understand each other and want to take care of each other," Troian explained. "That's going to continue down the road ... You're going to find a lot more about Wren than you already know."
We’ve always been a bit wary of the good doctor, but we have to admit he’s been there for Spencer quite a bit. Maybe some more Wren-time could help pull Spencer out of this downward spiral. We’ll have to tune in to next week’s episode to find out!
