By now, most Pretty Little Liars fans have seen the preview clips from next week’s PLL Season 3 premiere (Season 3, Episode 1: “It Happened ‘That Night’”). In one of them, we see all four Little Liars drinking together. But Emily (Shay Mitchell) is clearly the one drinking the most, seemingly in an effort to drown out her pain over Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) death.

On Wetpaint Entertainment’s visit to the PLL set, we asked Shay for more details on how Emily is feeling in the premiere, especially about the loss of her first love. Shay explained that Em is dealing with “everything that's happening, not just with Maya, but also finding out that Mona’s (Janel Parrish) been behind this, and now how Rosewood's been reacting.”

She continued, “For Emily, I kind of feel like she's in her own little world. The girls, obviously, are there for her, but they don't really understand what she's going through with this. So she has a little bit of a tipsy night.”

This is in pretty sharp contrast to the way Emily began the second half of Season 2. Back then, she was turning into a tough girl intent on tracking down “A” and getting revenge. Will Emily be tuning out completely when PLL returns?
