Maya (Bianca Lawson) and Emaya fans have been put through a wringer recently. Not only was Maya shockingly killed off in Season 2, Episode 25: “UnmAsked,” but there's been all sorts of back-and-forth hints about if we'll be seeing the dearly departed again in flashbacks. We're sorry to say a recent tweet from PLL writer Andy Reaser might leave Maya fans disappointed.

A few weeks ago, PLL producer Oliver Goldstick said that "I’m not teasing with this: You have not seen the last of Maya," prompting some fans to wonder if she could possibly be alive after all, and others to speculate that we'll be seeing some awesome Maya flashbacks.

However, recent tweets from Andy seem to rule both of those possibilities out.

A fan asked Andy, "will Emily and Maya have scene together in season 3?"

Andy replied, "Maya isn't alive." So unless he's just plain lying, that is more proof that Maya really was murdered. (*sob*).

The fan then clarified, "I know that, when [is] she in a flashback?"

Here's where it gets surprising: Andy then replied, "Flashbacks are only of Alison."

Um, what? If Maya's not alive and the flashbacks are only of Ali, how are we supposed to see more of her?

We have three theories. One is that we'll end up seeing Maya in a dream sequence or hallucination, in the same way that some of the girls have seen Ali. The second is that we'll see Maya in photos and/or videos from that past, probably that reveal secrets.

The third is that perhaps Andy is being tricky. The original question was when would Maya and Emily have a scene together. Perhaps Maya will be in a flashback or two — but only with Ali, not with with Emily. It would certainly be shocking to find out Ali and Maya had interacted in the past.
