Pretty Little Liars Season 3 is heating up, and for Ezria fans, the drama is just beginning.
We know Aria (Lucy Hale) has been keeping a huge secret from Ezra (Ian Harding) — like the fact he has a child! — but even after the truth comes out, Ezria’s relationship may never be the same. After all, the only thing scarier than “A” might be the sudden realization you have a 7-year-old son.
But for a couple that has already gone through so much, can they survive Rosewood’s latest scandal?
Wetpaint Entertainment recently spoke with Ian at 2013 TCA Winter Press Tour, and he gave us the scoop on all of the “stressful” Ezria drama this season, including Aria’s close relationship with Wesley (Gregg Sulkin). Will the couple stay together? Find out what Ian had to say below!
Wetpaint Entertainment: Sounds like there's a little drama in the ‘Ezria’ universe this season.
Ian Harding: Yes, there is. It's going to be a colorful 3B for sure.
You're so far unaware that you have a child?
Yes, I am. Things get really colorful in that aspect, and how I – maybe – find out is pretty nice, not your typical, ‘Oh my God.’ It's one of these things where it's not from the horse's mouth. That's all I can say about that, but it's going to be an awesome time. I think 3B, for everybody, is going to be a little bit more colorful.
Will it bring them closer together or further apart, when he finds out?
I feel like it's Aria and Ezra. Every test that they've met, they've really struggled with, and then they’ve lived through it. But this is a really big test. She's 17, and this child is 7. What does this mean? So if I find out, what could that possibly mean for her? It's probably going to be really, really stressful. Like anything, there's never a dull moment in Rosewood. So there's going to be challenges.
What is it that pushes her toward Ezra's family?
I don't know if it's bonding with my family necessarily, but perhaps bonding with a sibling of mine. Yeah, I think it's probably stress and seeking some sort of comforting voice, and this person offers that.
Wait. This will drive her into the arms of Wesley?
No, no, no. I never said that.
That was heavily implied.
Right. People have to find out, but it's pretty colorful. But we're still together‑ish over the course of the season.
What can you tease about the finale?
The finale, oh my God. Things come full circle. Things that you saw of me in, let's say the early episodes of season one, you might see again. Similar situations, set-up scenes... So it's going to be nice. People are going to recognize it when it happens. I don't want to give it away.
Keegan recently told us, ‘You won't believe what you saw.’
Oh, yeah, well there's some pretty nutty sh*t that happens, especially in the Aria and Ezra corner. There's some déjà vu.
You are a cheerleader for the two of them?
Yeah. Yeah, I am.
Or do you want the Toby thing, where you get to do your evil stare?
I would love to do both! I would love to have both, my cake and eat it too. But I do know that we see Larisa Oleynik (Maggie), who played my baby mama, a little more. I think it will be great to spice it up because how boring is it to just be like, ‘Oh, they're just great.’ Like who cares? Well, actually, a lot of people care. For me, as an actor, I would like to spice it up a little bit.
