The release of Mona. According to the official synopsis of the episode, Mona (Janel Parrish) is out of Radley and back at Rosewood High in the premiere. Yep, somehow the first "A" convinced the good folks at the mental institution that she's sane enough to go back to the school, where she stalked and tortured her friends. It's really good for the "A" Team that all of the professionals in Rosewood appear to be incompetent.
The question, of course, is if she has reformed. Mona claims yes, but PLL showrunner Marlene King has hinted that she's as bad as ever.
Arguments over Aria's dad: One thing the Liars definitely disagree about is what to make of Garrett's (Yani Gellman) story about Byron Montgomery (Chad Lowe) talking to Alison (Sasha Pieterse) the night she died. In this sneak peek, Aria is (understandably) in denial that her dad could have anything to do with Alison's disappearance, but Marlene King has confirmed that there is definitely backstory between Byron and Ali that we'll learn about this year.
Speaking of Aria's dad: Meredith is back, and teaching Aria's class at school. Awkward ... and also potentially a big problem, because apparently Meredith is a bit of a little liar herself.
Mona and ... Jason? Why are Mona and Jason (Drew Van Acker) hugging in this sneak peek photo? And why is Spencer worried about Jason in this sneak peek? Marlene King teased that "[Mona] will need some guardianship back in sort of the Rosewood world, and we might find that Jason takes her under his wing a little bit."
And Ezria? Based on this sneak peek, we know Aria still hasn't told Ezra (Ian Harding) about his son. So how do you explain this sneak peek photo?
More about Lucas: According to showrunner Marlene King, we're going to learn more about what's going on with Lucas (Brendan Robinson) in the premiere. She also says that "Lucas sort of cracks" over the course of the season, so hopefully we'll see the beginning of that.
Other key info: We will get an "idea" about who attacked Aria in the Halloween episode in the premiere.
A creepy scene ... on a bed: This episode is going to feature a creepy scene on a bed, whatever that means.
Hanna's grandma is back. Hanna's hilarious and awesome grandmother is back, which means the episode will definitely be funny as well as creepy.
So is the creepy motel guy: Remember that creepy guy who ran the front desk of the Lost Woods Resort? Well, he’s back.
