Mona’s (Janel Parrish) back, Pretty Little Liars fans! But there’s more to the Season 3 winter premiere (Season 3, Episode 14: “She’s Better Now”) than the question of Mona’s sanity.

ABC Family talked to writer Oliver Goldstick about what fans can expected in Season 3B. Other than Mona playing the victim and manipulating those around her at Rosewood High, we can expect to see her gain some unlikely allies. And then there’s the question of her “A” team involvement. Is she still “A” but in a different capacity? Has someone else (cough, Toby [Keegan Allen]) taken over?

Speaking of the ultimate betrayer, we will soon find out Toby’s motivations for being on the “A” team and will finally understand his betrayal. Will you be able to forgive him?

Back to Rosewood High! Meredith (aka Byron’s [Chad Lowe] mistress) will return as a teacher at the school … and Aria (Lucy Hale) will be in her class. Now that’s what we call uncomfortable. Oliver also teases that Meredith is a “pretty little liar” herself. Hmm.

And then we’ve got the mystery of Aria’s father. We will find out more about Byron’s not-so-pretty history with Alison (Sasha Pieterse). As Oliver says, “even the parents are little liars.” The lesson here? Trust no one.

If that’s not enough to tide you over until Jan. 8, Janel Parrish also spoke with ABC Family about all things Mona. In a clip from the winter premiere, we see that Aria (Lucy Hale) is still angry with her friends for suspecting her father’s involvement in any of this, and we also see Aria run into Mona at school. As the first Liar to face off with her, there’s a lot of tension. Well, that’s what happens when the girl who tried to kill you puts on a cute sweater and says hello.

So is Mona cured? What’s up with Byron, and why is Toby on the “A” team? We will find out soon enough!

Catch the return of PLL Season 3 on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
