Another season, another Hastings family drama. Pretty Little Liars director Norman Buckley posted this photo of Troian Bellisario (Spencer), Torrey DeVitto (Melissa) and Lesley Fera (Veronica Hastings) behind the scenes with the caption, “There is no end to drama with these three, thus these are some of my favorite scenes.”
Us too, Norman, and we’re glad to see we’ll be getting more of them in Season 4. PLL writer Bryan Holdman tweeted last week that we would be seeing the Hastings matriarch with “her hands full” in the upcoming season. Does this photo mean that she will be busy dealing with Spencer and Melissa. Now that we know Melissa is part of the mysterious "B" team, things have become more complicated. Is Veronica aware of Melissa’s allegiance? Could Veronica be a part of the “B” Team, too?
Furthermore, will Spencer still be struggling with the depression she fell into last season? Toby may be alive and well, but that doesn’t mean Spencer is 100 percent back to normal. We think her mother and sister may finally be willing to devote more attention to Spence after her breakdown in Radley. We’d love to see more heart-to-hearts between Veronica and Spencer (about the night Ali returned to the Hastings house with a split lip) in Season 4.
But how do Veronica and Melissa feel about Toby’s reintroduction into Spencer’s life? We’re assuming from this Spoby screenshot Norman posted a few days ago that the two are still in each other’s lives and Toby is not in jail for arson. We can’t imagine the Hastings - who have never been Toby fans - are okay with this development. Can this be the issue of the drama Norman refers to?
And if the “B” Team did plant that lighter on Toby at the end of the Season 3 finale, does Spencer figure it out? Her sister has done some pretty cruel things over the years, but framing one’s boyfriend for arson probably takes the cake. We know the sisters share at least one “stunning” scene, possibly set in the Rosewood forest. Could Spence finally be getting some answers from her big sister?
What drama do you think the Hastings will be dealing with in Season 4? Let us know in the comments below!
