Pretty Little Liars Season 4 is only five weeks away, and we have plenty to look forward to. Which five teased storylines do we think have the best chances of knocking our collective socks off? Read on to find out!
Pretty Little Mona
PLL has its fair share of awesome characters, but Mona (Janel Parrish) is one of our favorites. What can we say? Her one-liners are some of the best (we strongly suspect this is the real reason Spence rugby-tackled her to the ground). Mona’s snarkiness and capacity for deception are two of her best traits, and we can’t wait to see them in full force when she joins Team Liar for the beginning of Season 4. This shaky alliance won’t last, but we sure are going to enjoy Mona’s snide commentary while it does.
Season 4 is going to be one big family reunion! Not only are we seeing the return of Mike Montgomery, but Mrs. Dilaurentis will also be returning to Rosewood. It’s still not clear if Ali’s mother will have any family to reunite with — Jason is “missing,” Ali is “dead,” and there has been no talk of Mr. Dilaurentis joining her - but only time (and Season 4 promos) will tell. We’re curious to find out what Mrs. Dilaurentis is up to. Does she still hate Hanna? And does she know anything about Red Coat?
To offset the return of characters, we will also be getting a few new faces in town, especially in the police department. The Rosewood PD has always been a bit bumbly. Though they often have nefarious officers who scare the Liars and the viewers, as a whole, they tend to come off as a bit incompetent (people get murdered a lot in this town). We’re interested to see if the influx of new blood will make the police presence in town a bit more formidable, posing another threat to our Liars.
Of course we’re worried about the Haleb relationship with Caleb’s impending departure to join the cast of Ravenswood, but what of the Caleb/Toby bromance we’ve been promised?! We were so looking forward to seeing these two socially-misunderstood misfits bond over their unique positions as long-term Liar boyfriends. We even imagined a whole episode consisting of them re-enacting scenes from The Outsiders and Rebel Without A Cause. Let’s just hope PLL can fit it into the first half of the season because, even knowing their bromance must end tragically, it is still one of the Season 4 storylines we are most looking forward to.
Season 4 marks the second season the Liars will have been seniors in high school and we’ve yet to see one college visit. That’s going to change with Season 4, Episode 5: “Gamma Zeta Die” when the girls visit a college party (though presumably to gather clues rather than start the pledging process). We can’t wait to see the drama college decision time will bring. Did Spencer’s spiral into depression hurt her Ivy League chances? Does Emily still want to swim in college? We have a feeling these questions will be addressed in Season 4, and we can’t wait.
