As a television writer, we imagine choosing your favorite episode might be a lot like choosing your favorite child. Which is why we’re so impressed by Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King’s recent tweet regarding the Season 4 premiere:

“I think 401 is my most fave premiere. Ever!” tweeted Marlene yesterday. That is a pretty bold statement, especially considering some of the season premieres that have come before.

For one, the Season 4 premiere has the series pilot to contend with: the episode that introduced us to Rosewood, the Liars, and “A,” setting the stage for everything that would come after. The Season 2 premiere picks up in the aftermath of Ian’s death by church bell when the entire town thinks the Liars, well, liars, and features some pretty epic (read: angsty) Haleb and Ezria moments. Season 3 picks up a summer after Maya’s death: Emily is seriously (and understandably) depressed and is drugged into helping Red Coat & Co. dig up Ali’s grave. Good times.

So, when Marlene says this might be her favorite premiere episode yet, you can understand how that makes us pretty excited. We have quite a few spoilers rounded up regarding Season 4, a majority of them in reference to the premiere, but this little tweet might just be our favorite.
