Is one of the Liars getting a new love interest? E! Online has the dirt on Season 4, Episode 2 of Pretty Little Liars. Apparently, the episode is called “Turn of the Shoe” and will feature a new character who may offer one of the Liars something hard to find in Rosewood: peace-of-mind.

New Character
“...Fans will meet a very attractive martial arts instructor named Jake, who is patient, sensitive and insightful. Any guesses on which of our Liars will take an interest in his Zen-like tranquility?” asks E! Online.

Season 4 is a whole potentially game-changing season finale away, so it’s hard to guess which Liar will be drawn to Jake. Any of the girls could do with some martial arts skills paired with some “Zen-like tranquility.” Based on Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) struggles this season with Toby’s betrAyal and Wren’s suspicious behavior, we could see her drawn toward someone new (though we kind of thought the “A” team provided its own martial arts training).

Another interesting possibility is pint-sized Liar Aria (Lucy Hale), who is slowly distancing herself from Ezra (Ian Harding). We haven’t seen Aria’s childhood bud and martial arts aficionado Holden (Shane Coffey) for a while. Does he know this Jake? Could he reappear in Season 4, encouraging Aria to step outside of her comfort zone and try something new?

Episode Title
As for the episode’s title — a play on Henry James’ ghost story novella, The Turn of the Screw — could it be a reference to someone’s return from the dead? Is Ali back “possessing” the people of Rosewood (maybe not literally, but in the ways she manipulates them into doing her evil deeds)? And what does a show have to do with it? Is it an important clue in continuing to unveil the “A” team or “A” herself?

Or could the title have to do with another Little Liars framing? In Season 3, the girls are framed by “A” for digging up Ali’s grave, and that is used as blackmail against them. Could there be a similar blackmail scheme in Season 4? Perhaps, this “shoe” has something to do with it.

What do you think the episode title means? And how will Jake come into play? Let us know in the comments below!
