When Pretty Little Liars returns for Season 4, fans can expect plenty of Spoby scenes. After all, we’re sure Spencer and Toby have plenty to talk about after he revealed the truth about his heartbreaking betrAyal. While we’re happy Toby really isn’t on the “A” team, we still have a lot of questions regarding one of Rosewood’s most troubled residents.
Thankfully, it looks like Pretty Little Liars will be diving deep into Toby’s past this season, and star Troian Bellisario couldn’t be more excited to share Toby’s story and the "beautiful material" with the fans. We know we can expect a flashback involving Toby’s mom in the Season 4 premiere, but what else will be find out about Toby’s do-rag-wearing history? Plus, are Spencer and Toby really headed to Ravenswood?
Wetpaint Entertainment recently chatted with Troian about Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Spoby, and Spencer’s “competitive” relationship with new Liar, Mona.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What's happening with Spoby in Season 4?
Troian Bellisario: Some really interesting stuff is happening with Spoby. We're only really five episodes in, and a lot of it is not concentrated on Spoby's storyline, but there is something going on that's a part of Toby's history that Spencer's helping him on that I think is really, really beautiful material. The work that Keegan [Allen] is doing is kind of incredible, so I'm excited to be there for it. So you get to find out more about who Toby was before he met Spencer and she does too.
And Spencer is working together with Mona. How's that going?
Not too well. They're pretty competitive, as you can imagine. Yeah, it's still pretty much a, I don't want to be doing this, but I don't have any other option kind of situation.
Anything you can tease in broad strokes about the beginning of the season?
Yes. Where we left off was whatever the girls saw in the back of the trunk is definitely going to haunt them for a very long time, and right now, it's kind of turning over all of their lives.
How are you feeling about Ravenswood?
Well, we only got introduced to it in this most recent script. Spencer and Toby actually go there together, so it was very interesting to see what their final concept was. I'm very interested. Even though they're talking about it as kind of a branch or split off of Rosewood, it's very different. So I'm actually looking forward to arriving on set sometime next week and finding out what Ravenswood actually looks like.
