After learning in Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride” that Byron Montgomery (Chad Lowe) was having a heated argument with Alison (Sasha Pieterse) the night she disappeared, we have to wonder if Byron killed Alison, or better yet, is on the “A” team.
Here are three reasons why Byron might be in alliance with Toby (Keegan Allen), Mona (Janel Parrish), and whoever else is plotting against the Liars.
1. Aria is always spared. As we’ve noted before, “A” has always been the kindest to Aria (Lucy Hale). She never seems to be around when the worst of “A”’s plots are unfolding, and she never really gets directly threatened. (At least until this year’s Halloween episode.) She’s the only one whose parents haven’t been affected by “A” too, which could be because one of her parents is “A.” Could Byron be the reason why Aria is spared so often?
2. Byron had motive to kill Alison. The nature of Byron and Ali’s conversation led us to suspect that Ali was threatening him. She knew about his affair with Meredith, and she’s the one who told Aria about it. She could easily have threatened to tell Ella (Holly Marie Combs) too. Let’s not forget that “A” has been targeting members of the NAT club. Maybe the NAT club caught Byron having an affair on film, so he’s going after everyone who’s seen the footage. Just because Meredith is the only woman we know about doesn’t mean that she’s the only woman he ever had an affair with.
3. Byron could be psychologically disturbed. There is really only one explanation for Byron going along with “A”’s plot to kill Aria in the Halloween episode, and that is that he’s seriously mentally ill. Not that that’s so uncommon for the “A” team. Mona is certifiable, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Toby is a sociopath too. Plus, we should point out that Aria’s little brother Mike (Cody Christian) was prone to outbursts until he started seeing a therapist. Crazy could run in the family. Then again, Byron could still be on the “A” team and know nothing about that particular murder attempt. We still haven’t seen everyone’s hands.
