We honestly never know what's going on with Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker) on Pretty Little Liars. Is he good? Is he bad? Somewhere in between? We have no idea, though we would prefer it if he were better than he sometimes appears.
However, after his disappearance at the end of Season 3, Episode 19: “What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted” we have to be suspicious. So let’s review some of the reasons Jason might be part of the "A" team, whether we like it or not.
The Mona connection. Why is Jason going around hugging Mona (Janel Parrish) and having her tend to his very suspicious injuries? He claims it's not because he's a bad guy, but come on. Anyone who's willing to hug Mona isn't entirely trustworthy.
Speaking of injuries... What was that wound on Jason's hip we saw in Season 3, Episode 14: “She’s Better Now”? Could he have been involved with the Halloween attack on Aria?
The Lucas connection. A moment we can’t get out of our heads was when Jason and Lucas (Brendan Robinson) met surreptitiously during the Rosewood Halloween party in Season 3, Episode 13: “This Is a Dark Ride”. Lucas claims he was just acting as a courier for Mona, but is that the full story? And even if it is ... why was Jason receiving something from Mona?
The NAT club. As the Liars noticed after Garrett’s (Yani Gellman) murder, two out of the original three members of the NAT club have now been murdered: Garrett and Ian (Ryan Merriman). That leaves Jason. Is he in danger, too, or could he part of the plot against his former friend, in order to eliminate everyone else who knows about the group’s secret videos?
Jason disappeared around the same time Toby did. In the first half of Season 3, Jason was so fed up about Garrett’s impending release from jail that he got drunk and crashed his car. Toby (Keegan Allen) implicated himself to take the suspicion off of Jason, but what if it was just an elaborate plan for both of them to get out of town together? Toby didn’t show up again until the midseason finale, which was also when we found out he’s been on the “A” team this whole time. And Jason only resurfaced at the Halloween party. We could definitely see them both off somewhere (at that creepy motel with the “A” suite?) conspiring together.
He used to be involved with CeCe. And we sure as heck don't trust her.
He has motivation. Whether it's protecting NAT club secrets or avenging his sister's death, there are several reasons we can think of for Jason to be part of the "A" team. (On the other hand, he seemed genuinely upset when Alison's [Sasha Pieterse] body went missing...)
What do you think? Can you see Jason as evil, or do you think he's a good guy at heart?
