After rewatching the Pretty Little Liars Season 2 finale a few times, we are just as intrigued by Jenna (Tammin Sursok) as ever. Her possible role in Mona’s (Janel Parrish) “‘A’ team,” her connection to the Black Swan, and that curious meeting with an unknown person in the park — all of her behavior just created more questions.
But the one question we’re asking goes a bit deeper than her web of shady associates: What exactly does Jenna want?
When Jenna first arrived in Rosewood (Season 2, Episode 13:”The First Secret”), she seemed pretty positive that she wasn’t interested in accepting an olive branch of friendship from Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and the Little Liars. She defied Ali by wearing the same Lady Gaga costume, and instead, gravitated towards then-nerdy Mona, who was thrilled to have such a cool girl on her, ahem, team.
But Mona and Jenna eventually became enemies, particularly after Noel (Brant Daugherty) dumped Mona and went straight into Jenna’s sneaky embrace.
Still, even though Ali and Mona might have hated Jenna at some point, Jenna’s only motive so far seems to be revenge on Ali for blinding her with those firecrackers. With Alison long gone, and her newfound peace with the Little Liars after Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) saved her from the fire (Season 2, Episode 21: “Breaking the Code”), who is there left for Jenna to hate?
Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna, and Emily (Shay Mitchell) should be in the clear. Spencer might be on Jenna’s list because of Toby (Keegan Allen), but after the fire, Jenna can’t really hate her. We saw what happened when she wanted Garrett (Yani Gellman) out of the way. She has nothing against Noel, Lucas (Brendan Robinson), Maya (Bianca Lawson) (if Maya is even still alive), or Ezra (Ian Harding).
That leaves Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) and Jason (Drew Van Acker) as possible targets for Jenna. Melissa and Jason were both active members of the N.A.T. club, a group we still believe had something to do with Ali’s death. It’s possible that those videos Alison found out about, the ones the club couldn’t risk anyone else seeing, are still out there (maybe even in that mystery box that Melissa picked up in Season 2, Episode 24: “If These Dolls Could Talk”). If Melissa and Jason are the only two people besides Jenna who know about these tapes, then Jenna may just want to keep her enemies close.
What do you think Jenna’s motives are now, heading into Season 3?
