Pretty Little Liars has already tackled a teen questioning her sexuality beautifully with Emily's (Shay Mitchell) coming out arc, but that doesn't mean every character we've met other than Em and her girlfriends is straight.
In fact, showrunner Marlene King has said that one of the male characters who has already been established on the show might end up "questioning his sexulaity."
Of course, as soon as we heard that we couldn't help but start speculating on which of the guys we already know could turn out to be gay, bi, or otherwise questioning if the writers do go in that direction. Here are our thoughts on the matter — then we want to hear yours!
Toby (Keegan Allen), Ezra (Ian Harding), or Caleb (Tyler Blackburn): We're pretty sure it won't be any of these three. Their connections with their respective Little Liar love interests have been well established, and while it's certainly possible for a person to think they're in love with someone of the opposite sex, only to later realize they're actually gay, we doubt the show would break up a ship for that reason. Of course, any of these guys could be bi, but as long as they still are in love with one of the Liars, that doesn't really add much to the story.
Mike Montgomery (Cody Christian): Mike makes a lot of sense to us. If he's struggling with his sexuality as well as his parents' marital troubles, that would go a long way toward explaining why he started acting out so much. Plus, at various times the show has hinted that he has odd connections to some of the suspicious males around Rosewood. Maybe he's not up to anything wrong at all — maybe he's just had a few unfortunate crushes!
Lucas (Brendan Robinson): Lucas is a major character, so that's already a point in his favor if the writers want to make this a major plotline. He clearly had feelings for Hanna, but it's possible that he was just misinterpreting a friend-crush as a crush-crush (or he's bi). We know he's entangled with the "A" team, but we're not sure how. Maybe they're holding his sexality over his head, the way they did to Emily before she decided to come out.
Holden (Shane Coffey): Hey, Holden being gay has already been brought up; maybe that hunch wasn't wrong after all! If the writers decide to bring him back, this could be a way to make his storyline more interesting.
Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker): Like Lucas, Jason is a major character. He's had some flirtations with girls, but nothing major. On the other hand, there's already a lot going on in his plotline, so unless the writers tie Jason struggling with his sexuality together with Jason-Hastings-NAT drama, we'd rather they pick someone else so they can focus on everything else that's going on with him.
