British hottie Dr. Wren can be a bit mysterious as Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) friend/doctor/suitor on Pretty Little Liars, but the man behind the accent is more than happy to open up in real life. Julian Morris talked to ABC Family yesterday about Team Wrencer, his reaction to the Toby (Keegan Allen) betrAyal, and his favorite castmates.
Warning: if you didn’t ship Wrencer before, you most likely will after reading this interview.
The revelation that Toby was on the “A” Team sent many of us (including Spence) into a downward spiral of depression. Though Julian admits to “really enjoy[ing] the Spoby storyline,” he had a slightly different reaction to the news:
“I actually managed to have a sneak look at a script, and I reacted with glee because I thought, ‘I might have a chance with Spencer.’ Bwahahaha!”
Well, it’s good to know someone was happy about it. We suppose one man’s heartbreaking betrAyal is another man’s chance to swoop in and play the white knight. And we do have to admit, Julian is quite convincing in the role:
“I think [Spencer] should be with Wren!” said the self-admitted member of Team Wrencer. “I think they have something going. I think she should explore that. I think there’s a great love story to be told there, and I’d love to see the writers of Pretty Little Liars give them a chance.”
Julian said his favorite scenes to shoot so far in the series have been the Wrencer scenes from Season 2, Episode 21: “Breaking the Code.” In the episode, Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) stands Spencer up at a bar near the hospital. Luckily, Dr. Wren is there to keep her company. The two talk and drink and Spencer eventually goes home with him. The two kiss, but Wren insists that nothing more happens because they are drunk. What a gentleman!
“It was right before I went away for a while,” said Julian of the ep. “I really loved the connection Wren and Spencer had in that episode.”
Julian said we won’t have to wait much longer to see Wren again. He is set to appear in Season 3, Episode 23: “I’m Your Puppet.” As for future hopes for his character?
“I’d like to see Spencer love him back,” said Julian.
Julian said that Ian Harding (Ezra) is “without a doubt” the castmate who makes him laugh the most on set. Ezra and Wren have never had a scene together, but one fan asked if, given the two’s real life bromance, there is any chance for a Wrezra bromance on the show.
“[I] would love that,” said Julian. “Preferably if the scene involves scotch.”
Add this to the fact that, apparently, Ian has PLL viewing parties from time to time, and we are considering ditching Team Wrencer for Team Wezra!
Though Julian says he is “really close” with Ian and Tyler Blackburn (Caleb), Julian has a lot of love for all of his PLL castmates. During the filming of the pilot, Julian went snowboarding with Torrey and “had an awesome time.” He says he can never keep a straight face when filming a scene with Ashley Benson (Hanna) and, if he could choose one person to do a scene with who he hasn’t already, Julian would pick Lucy Hale (Aria). And don’t feel too bad for the last Liar. If given one word to describe Shay Mitchell (Emily), Julian chose “stunning.”
“It’s nice because we’re friends outside of work, so it’s great when we get together and hang out,” said Julian. “It’s always fun....I adore everyone.”
Aw. We’re Team Julian.
