Tammin Sursok may play quasi-villainess Jenna Marshall on Pretty Little Liars, but in real life the Australian actress is all gratitude. This week, she opened up to Australia’s The Morning Show about her soap opera start (Australia’s Home and Away) and what it meant to her to be cast in PLL.
"Home and Away begun my whole career. It changed my life instantly," Tammin told The Morning Show, as reported by Digital Spy. Rather than dismiss her background in the Aussie soap like others have done in the past, Tammin called the role an 'incredible opportunity' that led to her acting career in America.
"If it wasn't for that show,” said Tammin, “I never would have got an agent in America. It was such an incredible opportunity.”
Tammin is excited for the fifth season renewal of PLL (and the proposed spin-off) and says she knows she and the show have made it when “people start camping outside your hotel and you have to use pseudo names.” Not bad for someone who thought she had completely failed her audition for the part.
"I thought it was the worst audition I've ever done,” confessed Tammin. “I actually walked out and told my husband that I was giving up acting, and it literally changed my life. I think I said to the producers, 'I'm so bad I should leave'. But they gave me the job!"
Tammin sounds so sweet in real life! We hope for her sake as well as our own that we will be seeing more of “B” Teamer Jenna in the upcoming season. Her character has been one of the most intriguing since the beginning and now that we know she is allied with Shana, Melissa, and Wilden, we want to know more!
