The announcement that Pretty Little Liars will be getting a spin-off series to be produced by the same creative team behind PLL has been met with enthusiasm... and some trepidation. Will PLL start to suck because showrunner Marlene King and the other writers will be too focused on Ravenswood to worry about our Liars?! Well, reassurance comes in the form of a tweet (as it often does) from PLL writer Joseph Dougherty. Here’s what he had to say about the concerns:

“Maintaining #PLL is job number one,” Joseph told a particularly worried fan yesterday on his Twitter page.

Phew! We’re not sure how well statements like that bode for the spin-off, but we do have our priorities straight. We hope that both can be awesome, but if we have to choose, we’ll choose our Liars every time!

Joseph’s tweet does make us feel better, but we also can’t help but recognize the difference between intention and execution. We’ve gotten really attached to Rosewood and its inhabitants and we don’t want the PLL Powers That Be to drop the ball. Time will only tell. Until then, we are cautiously excited about the PLL spin-off.

Are you glad to hear that PLL is priority number one? Will you be checking out Ravenswood? Let us know in the comments below!
