In a new interview, Pretty Little Liars’ Troian Bellisario (Spencer) hints that the new “A” is a lot more powerful than we originally suspected. Not only did this person help Mona (Janel Parrish) torture the Little Liars all throughout the first two seasons, but he or she will make Rosewood feel like a cursed town.
Troian tells The Hollywood Reporter that, “If Mona was the first 'A' and could torture the girls to that extent and be that pervasive and that omnipresent and that ungrabbable, then the next 'A' who will crop up is going to be even more terrifying, and I don't know what the girls are going to do about it.” She continued, “Mona was one thing. They understood Mona, [but] Mona couldn’t have done all of that by herself.”
Troian also describes Rosewood as a “twisted and dark place … I don’t know what awful war has happened on that territory before the first settlers got there, but it's a very haunted place and it is fraught with evil."
In a weird way, she makes it sound like all the families who live in Rosewood are part of some larger mythology, like the creatures in True Blood, or the werewolf hunters on Teen Wolf. With Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) dad coming into the picture soon, and Ian Harding’s (Ezra Fitz) comment that “A” will be “literally” close to home, could Rosewood as a whole be up to no good?
