Shay Mitchell Originally Auditioned For Spencer Role

Shay Mitchell (Emily) first heard about Pretty Little Liars from her manager, and immediately put together an audition tape — but not for the role of Emily.
"I had originally auditioned for Spencer, actually," Shay says. "After I found out that Troian [Bellisario] got that role, which she is perfect for, I did another tape for Emily. Emily is just so much more suited for me."
Good thing that second chance worked out — Pretty Little Liars had Shay at hello.
"As soon as [my manager] said the name for the show," Shay says, "I knew I wanted to go for it.”
