With Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) featuring so prominently in last night’s Pretty Little Liars (Season 2, Episode 19: “The Naked Truth”), we think it’s time to take a closer look at this frequent “A” suspect.

The first altercation Noel had with the Little Liars was when he attempted to blackmail Ezra (Ian Harding) for a better grade in his class in Season 1, using his knowledge of Ezria as leverage. We (and the Liars) originally thought that he must be in alliance with “A” because of this, but then “A” allegedly got Noel kicked out of school before he could out Ezria, telling the girls that “A is for Allison, not Amateur.”

But Noel wasn’t always anti-Liars: he had a crush on Aria (Lucy Hale) through most of Season 1, which is another reason he felt compelled to threaten her relationship with Ezra.

We also know, from flashbacks to Ian’s (Ryan Merriman) frat house parties, that Noel was friendly with Ian, and other older, college-age guys. This also implies that he knew about (or was possibly even involved in) the N.A.T. club, despite being younger than the club’s main members.

Which means that Noel was actually an acquaintance of Detective Garrett (Yani Gellman), who has curiously left Noel alone despite his growing relationship with Jenna (Tammin Sursok). Why did Garrett nearly go psycho-killer when Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) merely rang Jenna’s doorbell, but has yet to do anything bad to Noel, who is apparently dating her?

Perhaps the most interesting information about Noel came during Season 2, Episode 13: “The First Secret.” Known around Rosewood High as a popular, if menacing, hot jock, he and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) seemed cool with each other until he threw his Halloween party. Suddenly Noel, along with Lucas (Brendan Robinson), Mona (Janel Parrish), and a host of other unknown guests were wearing the same gruesome mask as the person who attacked Ali in the deserted house (Jason’s future residence and possible N.A.T. stomping grounds).

Finally we reach present day. Noel is clearly partners with Jenna, whether the relationship is romantic, sexual, or just one of shared interests, we don’t yet know. But he is strictly anti-Little Liar, and pro-Jenna. After Caleb’s anti-Jenna tirade in a Truth Up Day group, Noel is now anti-Caleb.

Which leaves us with one burning question about Noel: if Noel is determined to hurt Caleb on behalf of Jenna, and we know that “A” steals Caleb’s computer for the purpose of hurting him, does that mean that Noel is part of an “A” group that includes Jenna?

One thing we can say for sure: he certainly looks the part of a bad boy.
