It takes a lot of talent and acting experience to star on Pretty Little Liars. There's obviously tons of that on set since the cast all had impressive acting gigs before PLL and many of them studied theatre in college. Read on to find out where the stars got their training and which ones were friends in school.
Ian Harding (Ezra) will be acting alongside Paloma Guzman (Jackie) next season, and ironically enough, they were pals at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama. Ian and Paloma were three years apart (he graduated in 2009 and she did in 2006), but who knew they'd eventually co-star as a former couple?
Ian told us, “I remember meeting her [Jackie] and just thinking she was so very cool and how beautiful she was.” Then a few months ago she texted him saying, “Hey, guess what? I’m gonna be playing your ex-fiancée.” Ian confessed, “ I pretty much had an aneurysm of excitement on the spot.”
Carnegie Mellon produced tons of PLL stars because Chuck Hittinger (Sean) went there, too! He graduated in 2005 and probably knew Paloma since they were in the same program.
Troian Bellisario (Spencer) was also an acting student in school. She attended the University of Southern California’s School of Theatre, and so did her boyfriend/PLL guest star Patrick J. Adams. You might remember Patrick as Ezra’s college friend Hardy in Episode 5, “Reality Bites Me.” Speaking of USC, Bianca Lawson (Maya) also went there and studied Film and Psychology.
Don’t forget about Brant Daugherty (Noel)! He attended Columbia College Chicago where he majored in Film and Video. The talented star concentrated in writing and directing, and even produced a few short films, but he eventually switched over to acting because he was bound to be on camera with that kind of bod.
Oh, how we wish we were college pals with these PLL stars!
