Obviously, Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are the stars of Pretty Little Liars and will be back for Pretty Little Liars Season 2, but we can’t forget about the supporting actors, too. We’ve got the scoop on which characters will return to Rosewood and how they will affect the little liars.
Emily will have lots of relationship drama next season since Paige (Lindsey Shaw), Samara (Claire Holt), and Maya (Bianca Lawson) will all be back. PLL Executive Producer Oliver Goldstick told TVLine, “Paige will still very much be around. Later on in the second season she has quite a nice arc. Right now, there is some Samara action happening.” As if that wasn't complicated enough, Maya will also return (she had to leave juvie eventually). Goldstick explains, “Maya went off because we had to shake it up a little bit. We all thought it was interesting to see what would happen when Maya went away, Emily was put in the position where she was the one who became the teacher in the relationship…But there are plans for her [Maya] to return. We adore her.” Emily has so many options, but who will she choose?
Hanna will also have a confusing love life since Lucas (Brendan Robinson), Caleb (Tyler Blackburn), and Sean (Chuck Hittinger) will all be back and competing for her affection. Although Tyler got a lead role on NBC’s new show, Brave New World, he’s still loyal to PLL. Goldstick said, “We will indeed see our Caleb again, and there is hope for Caleb/Hanna fans when he returns.”
Aria won’t be happy since Ezra’s ex-fiance will be around and teaching at Hollis, where Ezra just accepted a job. Ian Harding explained that his friend Paloma Guzman will be playing Jackie and confessed, “we’re going to be seeing, possibly — I say possibly, very possibly — more of her in Season 2. So I think possible love triangle, possible danger there.” Uh oh, will Ezria end up staying together?
The PLL parents will very much be back since a love triangle will take place between Byron (Chad Lowe), Ella (Holly Marie Combs), and Ashley (Laura Leighton). Where do you think the little liars learned all the sneaking around from?
Officer Garret Reynolds (Yani Gellman) just joined PLL, so he’ll certainly be around to mess with the girls. Plus, he’s dating Jenna (Tammin Sursok), so he can't just disappear.
We only got a glimpse of Ian’s messenger, Logan Reed (Tilky Montgomery Jones), but he’ll be back when we least expect it. Goldstick told TVLine, “He will return — maybe not right away, but you will be seeing more of Logan. And when he is spotted by one of our Pretty Little Liars, he won’t want to be spotted.”
And of the course the prime suspects will return, considering any one of them could be “A.” Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) will be around since King explained, “Melissa and Spencer’s relationship reaches a whole new level of “Who can you trust?” Do you trust family? Or do you trust who has become your family, who you’ve married?”
We’ll see more of Mona (Janel Parrish), but hopefully she'll be a better friend next season. King told Zap2it, “I love how Mona became a trending topic the second that letter went in the trash. That's going to be an interesting storyline to play out, too, with Hanna and Mona friendship. Did she think she was doing the right thing or not? We'll get to find that out soon enough. I think she really have good intentions but then those good intentions went array."
However there’s a few PLL characters we’re still not sure about. Noel (Brant Daugherty) will most likely return, considering he popped up in the crowd during the season finale. Jason DiLaurentis (Parker Badgely) may appear, especially if the police found his sister’s killer. And the biggest mystery of them all is whether Ian (Ryan Merriman) will be back, but that depends on whether or not he’s dead. It’s possible that any or all of them will return since King told SpoilerTV that “no one is ever gone for good” on PLL.
