So, you’re still dying to know who “A” is on Pretty Little Liars. Don’t worry — we’ve got our crack team of sleuths on the case, picking up even the tiniest clue for your mystery-solving pleasure. Here are some hints from Season 2, Episode 24: “If These Dolls Could Talk,” that may help us solve this thing for good — and for the last time!
Suspect #1: Melissa Hastings
Why she might be “A”: Over the course of the series, Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) has gone from just being Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) overachieving big sis to being Prime Suspect #1. And things got even messier for Melissa this week, when she threatened Spencer with incriminating videos of her and her friends, which is something “A” would do. Plus, the fact that Hanna (Ashley Benson) received that text about the Caleb-Mona hook-up — possibly from Melissa — sure isn’t helping her cause. Given Melissa’s thirst for gossip, she’s either “A,” or she has what it takes to be a great reporter for TMZ.
Why she might not be “A”: We still feel that “A” being a blood relative of the Liars would be incredibly harsh. Would Melissa really try to almost-kill Spence’s then-boyfriend Toby on that scaffolding? And as the girls pointed out this week, why would Melissa confess to sending Ali any texts at all if she were in fact “A”? Either way, Melissa isn’t winning “Sister of the Year” anytime soon.
Suspect #2: Mona Vanderwaal
Why she might be “A”: Mona (Janel Parrish) was definitely raising suspicions this week, with her odd questions for Hanna about A’s texts, and the fact that Mona is seen to be good with phones. Plus, we know that Mona has tried once before to split up Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) and Hanna, so it would make sense that she would try again, but doing it as “A” this time. Plus, who wouldn’t want to concoct a plan that means getting to make out with Caleb for an extended period of time?
Why she might not be “A”: As we’ve stated before, we would be surprised if the TV series chose the same “A” as the books. (Especially considering that Lucy Hale said that it definitely won’t be who it is in the books.) And true, Mona certainly had reason to hate Ali, but Mona has seemed a lot nicer to the other girls lately. And we’re not sure how she would have time to do much stalking, considering she has such a full schedule of talking about cute boys and shopping.
Suspect #3: Maya St. Germain
Why she might not be “A”: Could this be the person who Jenna (Tammin Sursok) was referring to when she said that the Liars need to be worried about someone? Certainly Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) absence is getting suspicious, and her cryptic message to Emily (Shay Mitchell) this week revealed hostility, when asking whose side Em was on. And we still don’t know what exactly Maya was doing with Ali’s old things. Uh, we thought that jazz musicians were supposed to be cool and collected, but Maya is seeming anything but.
Why she might not be “A”: She has barely interacted with the other Liars, and we still have no signs that she even knew Ali, other than that they shared the same house. And no, Emily doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to choosing significant others, but she would have to have some suspicions if she were in fact dating “A,” right?!
Suspect #4: Ezra Fitz
Why he might be “A”: We’d hate to think this could be true, but this would at least be a major shock (as the producers are promising that the reveal will be). Let’s face it: Ali never struck us as a bookworm, so all the Lolita references lately make us wonder if she indeed knew Ezra (Ian Harding). And just the fact that Ezra could date someone as evil as Jackie makes us wonder about his past. Of course, if he is “A,” our whole world would be changed, meaning that food will never taste the same again, and sunshine will never look quite as bright.
Why he might not be “A”: Um, because he’s Ezra, and he’s basically the most perfect man ever made. The fact that he would have anything at all to do with “A”’s schemes would be an incredibly crushing blow to all the Ezria fans out there (which is basically everyone). So let’s just cross our fingers that he’s blissfully ignorant about who is “A,” okay?
Find out who “A” is on the Pretty Little Liars Season 2 finale on Monday at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC Family.
