Are you dying to know who “A” might be? Don’t worry — we’ve got our crack team of sleuths on the case, picking up even the tiniest clue for your mystery-solving pleasure. Here are some hints from Pretty Little Liars Season 2, Episode 5, “The Devil You Know,” that may help us solve this thing for good!

Suspect #1: Melissa Hastings

Why she might be “A”: Ian (Ryan Merriman) had already been dead for a week, but someone was texting Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) from his phone.... Someone who knows the name of her unborn child. As far as we know, only Ian, Spencer (Troian Bellisario), and Melissa knew the name of the baby, and Spence definitely isn’t “A” (at least, we hope not!). Ian’s dead, so that leaves Melissa. Was she texting herself this entire time?

Why she might not be “A”: Melissa spends most of her time huddled under a blanket on the couch, staring blankly at the wall. Unless she’s hiding a camera, projector, and a few cell phones in her baby bump, Spencer’s sis is innocent.

Suspect #2: Officer Garrett and Jenna Marshall

Why they might be “A”: We learned that Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok) and Officer Garrett were the ones who paid Logan to meet the little liars with a bag of cash back in season one. This doesn’t exactly clear Ian’s name — it’s very possible he was in cahoots with them — but with plotting skills like that, there’s no way Jenna and her man aren’t top suspects.

Why they might not be “A”: Officer Garrett seemed genuinely surprised when Emily (Shay Mitchell) told him that she knew a woman hired Logan. If Garrett were one half of “A,” he would already have known that Em had put two and two together.

Suspect #3: Mike Montgomery

Why he might be “A”: Mike Montgomery (Cody Christian) wears a hoodie, and spends his evenings breaking into the little liars’ homes. ‘Nuff said.

Why he might not be “A”: Clearly Mike is one troubled kid, but he seems too petulant to be a conniving villain. Being “A” takes patience, an advanced degree in plotting, and certain technological skills that we’re not sure Mike has. Plus, Mike doesn’t have the time to plot a murder — he’s too busy listening to Dashboard Confessional and crying in the mirror.
