Who knew that all it takes to become the coolest dad in Rosewood is a shout-out from a Golden Globe winner? After last night (January 13), Pretty Little LiarsByron Montgomery (Chad Lowe) can claim that title, at least according to showrunner Marlene King.

After Girls creator and star Lena Dunham won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Series Comedy or Musical she told the crowd that she had promised her mother (and herself) that if she ever won an award, she would thank Chad Lowe. That might seem random, but it's a reference to the famous incident when Chad’s wife at the time, Hilary Swank, won the Best Actress Oscar in 2000 for Boys Don’t Cry and forgot to thank Chad.

Marlene immediately took to Twitter to give Chad his new title: “Thank you @ichadlowe for being the coolest dad in Rosewood. Xoxo”

Chad also hit Twitter to express his feelings about the evening. First and foremost, he tweeted congratulations to the hilarious winner. “Congrats to @lenadunham on your Golden Globe win. But, seriously? You forget to thank me?! After all we've been through? I'm shocked.”

He followed that tweet by borrowing a line from Jerry Maguire, saying, “Dearest @lenadunham YOU COMPLETE ME”

After the event Chad became a worldwide Twitter trend, which he tried to use to get out of his dad duties, tweeting, “Now that I'm trending worldwide (finally) does that mean I don't have to give my daughters a bath or change their diapers anymore?”

We wish that were the case, Chad. But being a cool dad actually means just the opposite. And, just for the record, he might have Lena's love, but we still don’t trust the coolest dad in Rosewood.
