Chad Lowe
Pretty Little Liars character: Byron Montgomery
Full name: Charles Lowe
Currently residing in: Los Angeles
Chad Lowe is the younger brother of fellow actor Rob Lowe and the ex-husband of Academy Award winner Hilary Swank. He won an Emmy Award in 1989 for his starring role in Life Goes On as a man suffering with HIV. He has also had recurring roles on ER, Melrose Place, and Now and Again. One of Chad's recent prominent roles was Deputy White House Chief of Staff Reed Pollock on the sixth season of 24. Lowe made his directorial debut in 2000, with the short film The Audition. He also directed Beautiful Ohio, which was released in 2007. In April 2010, Lowe replaced Alexis Denisof (of Angel fame) as Aria's father, Byron Montgomery, in Pretty Little Liars.
Chad was married to actress Hilary Swank between 1997 and 2006. Swank infamously forgot to thank Lowe during her acceptance speech after winning her first Academy Award in 2000 (for Boys Don't Cry), and she spent nearly every public appearance afterward making up for it. Ouch. Upon winning her second Oscar in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby, Lowe was the first person she thanked. We all saw the warning signs! On January 9, 2006, Lowe and Swank announced their separation, and in May 2006, they announced their intention to divorce. Their divorce was finalized later that year, as discussed by Lowe during his January 24, 2007, interview on Larry King Live.
Don't get too sad just yet! Things turned out for the better for both of them. Hilary Swank's star continues to rise and Lowe and his current girlfriend, Kim Painter (who was formerly Carrie Fisher's personal assistant) had a daughter, Mabel Painter-Lowe, on May 16, 2009, in Los Angeles, California.
