Ever since Kailyn Lowry first announced that she would be releasing a tell-all, we’ve been anxiously awaiting its drop date — and now it’s almost here! The Teen Mom 2 star’s publishers, Post Hill Press and MTV, announced today (March 3) that her memoir will be out in April 2014 — just weeks away. And according to a new excerpt, this book’s going to reveal even more shocking details than we first thought!
As previously reported, Kailyn’s book will be titled Pride Over Pity, and it will delve into her “troubled, often painful story” as well as some “dark secrets she has so closely guarded.” But what sort of secrets are we talking about, you wonder? After all, her life has been pretty well-documented on TM2 and social media over the years.
The press release says that Kail will be taking us behind the scenes of her struggles as a teenage mom — which includes a stay in homeless shelter, opening up to the public about her sexuality, and, most shockingly, some “traumatic sexual experiences that have left her deeply scarred.” We knew that her book would touch on themes of “addiction, rape, and being abandoned,” but we didn’t know it would go to this extent!
Luckily, the proud mama of two is doing much better these days, after finding her loving and supportive hubby Javi Marroquin. And a new excerpt from the memoir shows just how much she’s learned about herself and grown since her darker days.
“If I ever gaze at the past, I shudder,” she writes. “I shudder to count how many times I mistakenly thought I was loved. I quiver unpleasantly to recall the person I used to be and how I acted in some of my relationships. Looking back, it’s not surprising that I turned to boys for love so early. I needed appreciation. I needed to feel worthy. Most of all I needed support.”
We are so glad to see Kail has come so far since her early Teen Mom days. And we can’t wait to get our hands on a copy of Pride Over Pity! Way to go girl!
