Prince George’s Portrait Is Displayed in Queen Elizabeth’s Sitting Room

It must be nice to have a grandmother who treats you like royalty. Especially if you are the third in line to the British throne.

A quick look into Queen Elizabeth II’s sitting room looks like the perfect spread for the next I Spy book. The room is so busy and crowded with nicknacks and patterns that it’s impossible to focus on just one item. We did manage, however, to pick out the official royal portrait of Prince George Alexander Louis Duke and his parents, the Duchess and Cambridge, sitting on one of the side tables. The portrait is a breath of fresh, colorful air sitting among the other drab accoutrements in the space, no?

The photo of the Queen’s sitting room in Balmoral Castle was taken by John Key, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, who recently spent a few days visiting with his own family. In the photo, we see the Queen and Prince Philip sitting in front of an electronic heater nestled into the fireplace and the doggy beds for her two pups in the background.

The room also features portraits of her other grandchildren: Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, a portrait of the Queen’s own great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, and Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were able to spend some family time at Balmoral recently, where baby George met his great-grandfather Prince Philip for the first time. During that visit, Prime Minister Key went grouse hunting with Prince William while Kate Middleton enjoyed a walk with the the PM’s daughter Stephanie, according to The New Zealand Herald. The Prime Minister got to meet, but not hold, the prince, calling him a “very bonny” baby.
