Kate Middleton and Prince William Visit Family in Princess Diana’s Memory

This past Saturday marked the anniversary of that chilling day, 16 years ago, when Princess Diana was the victim of a fatal car crash that ripped her from her children. Since that tragic day, Prince William has been especially conscious of how he keeps his beloved late mother’s memory alive. In recognition of the anniversary of Diana’s heartbreaking death, William and Kate Middleton, along with their 6-week-old baby boy, Prince George, flew to visit Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Diana's eldest sister.

According to the Calgary Herald, Britain’s Daily Express reports that the royal family of three “were seen boarding a helicopter at Belton Woods country club near Grantham, Lincs — just six miles from the farmhouse in Stoke Rochford where Lady Sarah, 58, lives with her husband Neil, a farmer and former Guards officer."

Lady Sarah and Princess Diana reportedly had a strong relationship, despite the fact that the sisters both dated Prince Charles (Sarah before Diana, obviously). Lady Sarah and younger sister Lady Jane Fellowes were the ones who flew to Paris with Prince Charles to bring Diana’s body back after the fatal crash in 1997 that killed both her and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, as well as their chauffeur as they attempted to elude paparazzi. William was only 15 years old at the time.

Prince William is said to have spent his childhood with his brother Harry playing with Lady Sarah’s children, their cousins. Keeping the family ties strong, the visit with Prince George was undoubtedly very emotional, but joyful, giving Lady Sarah the chance to meet her great nephew for the first time and reflect upon how her late sister lives on in the beautiful royal baby.
