Glee Promo: In-Depth Analysis of Season 5, Episode 2 — Prom and Demi Lovato!
Glee’s Season 5 premiere has come and gone. Now it’s on two next week! Thursday, October 3, our favorite musical comedy is back for Season 5, Episode 2: “Tina in the Sky With Diamonds.” We’ve seen the promo for the episode, and it’s chock full of clues about what’s about to go down.
All you need now is a little help decoding them all. That’s where we come in. We here at Wetpaint Entertainment have been hard at work keeping track of Glee spoilers. Now, we’re breaking down the promo — second by second, frame by frame — uncovering all the details you need to know.
00:01— “Hey, Jude.”
That’s right: It’s time for another Beatles episode! October 3 will be the final installment of Glee’s two-part Beatles episode. Right now, Blaine (Darren Criss) is leading the New Direction guys in singing “Hey Jude.” It’s really nice. And we love his bow tie.
But can we stop for a moment and talk about the fact that Blaine and Kurt (Chris Colfer) just got engaged?! Blaine proposed. Kurt said yes. The fan-favorite couple is ready to become legally wed. They may have their reservations (being just 18 and 19, after all) but Kurt and Blaine would rather spend as much time together as they can. They’re officially on their way to tying the knot.
00:02— But back to McKinley.
It’s time for the junior/senior prom! ‘But why?’ you ask. It’s only September. ‘How can it be time for prom already?’ Silly reader, did you not forget that Glee left off in the middle of the year last season? In the land of McKinley, we’re still in mid-Spring. Yeah, Glee’s time schedule and continuity are about to get real confusing.
00:03— Just kidding. Back to Kurt!
“Are you ready for me?” the newly-engaged college freshman asks. Like Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera) before him, Kurt appears to have started a part-time job at the Broadway diner, too. We recognize the guys' uniform from the girls' "A Hard Days Night" performance. Kurt'll need the extra cash. We hear that weddings don’t come cheap!
Sam (Chord Overstreet), Ryder (Blake Jenner), Jake (Jacob Artist) and the guys are all running down the hall, yelling with excitement. Gosh, the all look dapper in those suits. Oh, but what’s up with those bright and shiny neon-colored silk suits the New Directions are wearing?
“Welcome, idiots. Let’s get this over with, shall we?” By “this,” she obviously means the announcement about who won Prom King and Queen this year. It’s Blaine vs. Stoner Brett for Prom King, and Tina vs. Kitty for Prom Queen. So far, we don’t have official confirmation yet of who wins, but we’ve certainly heard reports.
00:17— “We’ve got Demi Lovato!”
Stop. Hold everything. Forget about Sue. Forget about prom. Forget about Ohio. Pop superstar Demi Lovato is coming to Glee for at least six episode this season, and Episode 2 will be her big debut. She’ll play Dani, a struggling NYC songwriter who happens to work at the same Broadway diner where Rachel and Santana just got jobs.
Santana is obviously smitten. And she expresses it in a very Santana sort of way. “Oh my God, she’s so pretty! I’m getting that stinky, panic sweat under my boobs.”
If anybody could step up and make Santana’s heart open back up to the idea of love again... it would have to be Demi Lovato. That girl is flawless. We love her like crazy, and we get the feeling that she’ll fit in perfectly in the world of Glee!
“This is where I get off,” Dani says. She looks into Santana’s eyes and smiles a huge grin. Then she leans in and gives her a quick kiss on the cheek! Okay, so it’s more of a peck... nowhere near a full-on smooch. Sigh. We’re sure that will come later. It has to! We’re more than willing to wait. As long as it does happen eventually.
