Queen of England Visits Game of Thrones Set, Does Not Sit on Iron Throne (VIDEO)

Today in things that are awesome: Queen Elizabeth visited the Game of Thrones set. In things that are deeply disappointing: Queen Elizabeth visited the Game of Thrones set... and didn't sit on the Iron Throne. We know, we're sad, too.

Last week the British Monarchy's people announced that Queen Elizabeth would drop by Game of Thrones's Belfast set during her visit to Northern Ireland, and in the video above, you can see England's monarch doing just that. And while she declines to sit on Westeros' most coveted chair, she does get awfully close to it.

In this raw footage from the trip, Queen Elizabeth ascends the steps in the throne room and takes a long gander at the Iron Throne. She also receives a mini-replica of the throne, which is pretty awesome.

The Queen is either a fan of the show, or just very good at pretending to be interested in things, because later in the video we see her chat with one of the show's prop masters, commenting that he has "endless possibilities" for his job. "You can do anything," she says.

For those of you who were dreaming of seeing the real-world monarch sitting on the fake-world throne, the power of photoshop can make your wishes come true. Gotta love the internet!
