Simon Cowell Plans to Quit Smoking When Baby Arrives
Becoming a dad is already changing Simon Cowell. The longtime fan of nicotine — he’s smoked since he was eight years old! — recently told TV host Arsenio Hall he’ll be ditching the habit when his baby boy arrives next year.
“I don’t smoke, so I can smell cigarette smoke on you,” Arsenio told his guest pre-intervention. Simon said yes, Arsenio’s sense of smell was correct; he is indeed a smoker.
“You gotta stop smoking around the kid, man!” Arsenio responded.
“I’ll do that,” Simon replied.
So could the famously stubborn judge actually be planning to dump the cigs?
After all, Simon’s such a confirmed smoker he was recently spotted lighting up right next to his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, who is five months along. Although the 54-year-old doesn’t typically seem to care what the world may have to say about him and his deep V-neck t-shirts, perhaps the major heat he got about those photos showed him a change was in order.
If Simon does indeed kick the habit, it’ll be a big lifestyle change for the Englishman. He’s often spotted out with cigarette in hand. In just the past month alone, he’s been seen taking a quick smoke break during dinner in New York and while walking in Beverly Hills. Both times Lauren was on his arm.
