Alicia DiMichele Quits Mob Wives, Takes Back Guilty Plea in Embezzlement Case — Report

Perhaps Teresa Giudice should take a page out of Mob WivesAlicia DiMichele’s book and exit reality TV. This week, fourth season starter Alicia was back in court for her long-running embezzlement trial, where she shocked many by withdrawing her guilty plea. But it was another move of hers that may catch you off guard even more: She reportedly secretly resigned from the VH1 reality show three weeks ago!

When Alicia initially pled guilty to embezzling union funds from the trucking company she co-owned with her husband — alleged Colombo crime family enforcer Eddie “Tall Guy” Garofalo — she had agreed to pony up $20,000 in restitution. She also faced up to six months in prison. But now, the New York Daily News reports, the union’s benefits fund is claiming the figure owed is closer to $2.8 million, plus 18% interest.

The federal judge told Alicia that with a guilty plea, she wouldn’t be taking that lesser figure. The judge then gave her the option to withdraw her original plea, which she did.

“I’m relieved, and as always I’m staying positive,” DiMichele told the Daily News. Her lawyer added, “We expect there will be a new plea that satisfies the government and the defense without having her potentially liable for $2 million in restitution.”

However, when the reality star was asked about the reports that she’d submitted her letter of resignation to VH1 three weeks ago, she remained tight-lipped. “I can’t talk about that,” Alicia replied.

It’s no surprise if she did decide to leave. While starring on the series, she was being paid $8,000 per episode, which gave prosecutors the ability to argue that she was able to pay a $96K fine. The Daily News’ source suggests that Alicia may be separating herself from the image that Mob Wives portrays.

Wetpaint reached out to VH1, and the network doesn’t have a comment at this time. But according to some recent tweets from Alicia herself, it sure seems like she’s closing her chapter in reality TV — at least for now.

“I'm truly overwhelmed by all of your loving messages and support, u guys are amazing, that's why I know that u are my TRUE fans,” Alicia wrote this morning. And when one fan replied that Alicia made a good decision for herself and her family, Alicia responded, “Thank you. Family First.”

We wish Alicia the best, and will miss her if she has indeed decided to leave!
