Ramona Singer Breaks Down On-Camera — But Why? (VIDEO)

We were promised a more “Ramotional” and softer side of Ramona Singer this sixth season of Real Housewives of New York, and it looks like we’re already getting it just a few eps in! No, the peppy blonde’s tears aren’t due to her rumored marital issues with hubby Mario. Instead, it’s all thanks to her daughter Avery growing up and moving on. Aww!

We’ve watched Avery, now 19, grow up before our very eyes on-screen. And now that the time has almost come for Ramona to send her only child off to college, the reality hits her a little too hard and fast.

“I really don’t want to think about what it’s going to be like because when I do, I get hysterical,” Ramona admits to the Bravo cameras in this sneak peek clip. “I feel scared. I’m excited for her, but I’m really sad for me because she is such a major part of my life.”

Between sips of Ramona Pinot Grigio — of course! — she vents to her makeup artist, as Avery is getting ready for the prom. But as soon as her daughter emerges in her gown, the proud mama loses it.

“Mom, I’m not even done! Don’t start crying!” Avery shouts.

Though we totally remember the sheer annoyance we had towards our parents during the teen years — mom, you’re embarrassing me! — we can also understand the hard time Ramona is going through. We’re just not used to seeing the energetic, Turtle Time-lovin’ gal be so vulnerable!

“Seeing Avery in her prom dress… to me she’s the most beautiful woman in the world, and she’s grown up,” Ramona says, trying to explain her tears. “My baby’s grown up, and I’m not ready for her to grow up … She’s the most important person in my life. She’s like my other arm, and I feel like I’m losing my arm.” Aww, doesn’t that make you want to call your own mom up?

Luckily, Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Ramona just recently, where she revealed that she and Avery are closer than ever. Though the teen is away at school, Ramona says, “I either see her every four weeks, or she comes and sees me. And then, through social media, she’s texting me everyday and sending me photos.” What a relief!

Real Housewives of New York airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
