Rapper Petey Pablo Released From Prison

Petey Pablo fans, rejoice! Your main man is out of jail and back to work. The rapper behind hits like “Raise Up” and “Freek-a-Leek” is officially a free man as of March 13, according to a TMZ report.

Petey served two years in federal prison for gun smuggling, the outlet reports. He was arrested back in 2010 after police officials say he tried to take a stolen Smith & Wesson 639 through airport security, which he claimed he didn’t know was in his bag. Adding to the face-palm action of the whole scenario: Petey was caught with the gun on, of all days, September 11 (aka one, if not the most, high alert days for security officials across the country).

After being charged with possession of a stolen firearm, Petey Pablo headed to prison but was released four months ahead of schedule. His original sentence had him behind bars for a total of 35 months, which is small change seeing as he served six years of a 14-year sentence back before he made it big musically.

So what’s next for the 40-year-old entertainer? He’s getting back in the hip-hop game and, TMZ says, has already reconnected with old bud Timbaland.

“I’m now headed to the work shop,” Pablo said in a statement released to the media, “to begin what will be noted as my best work ever with one of the greatest producers of all time.” Now that’s the spirit!
