RHOC Ratings Rise Slightly in Season 9, Episode 2 — But Not By Much

Real Housewives of Orange County has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, with the first two episodes of Season 9 mostly lacking in the show's typical drama thus far. And while the ratings weren't great for last week's premiere, more people tuned in for this week's episode.

Last week's Season 9 premiere made headlines by attracting fewer viewers than the three previous season premieres had. Last week's episode drew 1.7 million total viewers, with a 0.8 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo. By comparison, Season 8 opened with 1.81 million viewers, while Season 7 had a whopping 2.26 million.

For this week's episode, the show saw a slight but significant uptick in total viewers. The episode still earned an identical 0.8 demo rating to last week's but was seen by 1.84 million sets of eyeballs. Apparently, more people are tuning in as more drama starts to erupt. And next week's episode should be even more tense, with Tamra Barney calling out Heather Dubrow.

It's interesting that the season's ratings are starting out in the doldrums. Could it be that fans of departed cast members like Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino are boycotting the show? Maybe some viewers are just waiting for a really big fight in order to tune in.

Are you surprised that the show is struggling in the ratings?
