The Originals Ratings For Season 1, Episode 21 Tie Series Low

Last night’s episode of The OriginalsSeason 1, Episode 21 (“The Battle of New Orleans”) — saw the French Quarter break into a war between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), but it was the minor players who used backstabbing to their advantage to cause complete chaos. More bloody than the hordes of vamps who lost their lives last night? The ratings.

According to Zap2it, the penultimate episode of the Vampire Diaries spin-off only brought in 1.51 million viewers and registered a measly 0.6 in the key 18-49 demo. That’s down from last week’s slight bump and ties the previous week’s season low. Last week 1.66 million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Father Kieran (Todd Stashwick) and the show earned a 0.8 in the key demo, which is why this week’s stumble is sad. You’re headed in the wrong direction, show!

This week’s episode saw the tides shift in New Orleans, with the vampires fighting each other while the Crescent werewolves joined forces with the Guerreras — which we totally didn’t see coming. Now that the witches have Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), it looks like they might get their wish to kill the hybrid baby because this mama is gonna pop!

Are you surprised the ratings for this week’s episode were so bad? Hit the comments and let us know!

The Originals airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
