According to ratings reports, Grey’s won their time slot (9-10 p.m. ET) in the coveted demo, scoring a 2.6 rating. This isn’t their highest of the season — that goes to Season 10, Episode 3 with 9.6 million viewers and a 3.1 rating — but is still impressive given that many shows’ ratings plummeted on the spooky holiday.
It even beat out It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which had 7 million viewers and a 2.2 rating. The overall winner for the night was The Big Bang Theory with 11.6 million viewers and a 2.5 rating, with Scandal trailing closely behind with 9.2 million viewers and a 2.9 rating.
This marks the start of November sweeps, and for ABC, it was their first win on opening night in six years, according to Variety. And to think it was all because of creepy crawlers (literally — those maggots were no joke) and zombies. Take that, The Walking Dead!
