Pretty Little Liars fell slightly in the ratings with this week’s episode (Season 4, Episode 8: “The Guilty Girl’s Handbook). Just over 2.3 million of you tuned in to watch Mona confess to Wilden’s murder. However, this was down more than 500,000 viewers from last week.
Apparently, other television watchers didn’t find Mona’s teachings in the art of false confessions as riveting as we did.
PLL was still the number one most-watched cable program in its time slot, but ranked sixth overall for the night. It earned a 1.1 in the coveted “Adults, 18-49” demographic, down from 1.3 last week, but still well above the 0.9 it dipped to for Season 4, Episode 3: “Cat’s Cradle” a few weeks ago.
PLL may have lost its title of No. 1 cable show for this week, but the teen mystery series is still pulling strong ratings for ABC Family and next-day DVR numbers may give the episode an added boost. We’ll have to wait to see if next week’s episode (Season 4, Episode 9: “Into the Deep”) proves this dip to be another anomaly in an otherwise consistently strong season, or if it is the sign of diminishing interest in the show. If we had to guess, we’d say PLL has nothing to worry about!
