Glee Ratings: Season 5, Episode 16 Remains Flat Over Last Week’s Slight Improvement

Glee hasn’t exactly been pulling in the ratings lately — even with the full-time shift to New York City. The first episode in the Big Apple tied the previous series low and last week was barely an improvement. Our hopes were high with Season 5, Episode 16 (“Tested”), but, unfortunately, the ratings were flat week-over-week.

According to Zap2it, the dramedy matched last week’s 1.0 rating in the key 18-49 demo, but fell in viewership from 2.8 million to 2.45 million. In fact, it wasn’t a stellar evening for FOX, with the ever-quirky New Girl earning a series low and The Mindy Project down from last week. Say it isn’t so!

Glee and The Originals were beaten by a repeat episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — awkward, right? The night (or at least the 8 o’clock hour) belonged to NCIS and The Voice.

Perhaps the sensitive subjects — STDs and such — didn’t help draw viewers in (yuck). That being said, there were some great moments for some of our favorite relationships, with Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) deciding to wait until marriage to do the deed while Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) hit a minor roadblock — 15 pounds to be exact.

Are you surprised that the ratings didn’t improve this week? Hit the comments and let us know!

Glee airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
