Vampire Diaries Ratings: Season 5, Episode 20 Ties For Series Low

Just in case you haven’t heard, ratings for The Vampire Diaries have been plummeting the past few weeks — and the same can be said for Season 5, Episode 20 (“What Lies Beneath”). How bad were last night’s numbers? Read on to find out!

According to Zap2it, the all-new episode only brought in 1.82 million viewers and a rating of 0.7, tying it’s series low and falling 13 percent from last week’s 0.8 rating in the key 18-49 demo. Looks like people tuned in to see Enzo (Michael Malarkey) bit the dust — or, you know, get his heart ripped out — but they weren’t interested in his ghostly adventures.

In this week’s episode, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley), and Caroline (Candice Accola) spent a booze-filled evening playing “Never Have I Ever” before getting haunted by ghost Enzo. It sounds like a lot of people missed out on Caroline awkwardly confronting what she believed to be a Stelena reunion and Damon finally getting his little bro to reveal that he killed his only BFF in existence. It was a topsy-turvy night, for sure!

Still, there’s no need to worry, because the show has already been renewed for Season 6 — but it would be nice to see an uptick in the ratings with the Season 5 finale quickly approaching.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
