The Vampire Diaries Ratings Soar With Season 5, Episode 6 — “Handle With Care”

Great news, Vampire Diaries fans! The ratings for Season 5, Episode 6 (“Handle With Care”) are in, and they’re way up.

The ratings for “Handle With Care” were up 33 percent in the 18-49 demo over last week’s episode (Season 5, Episode 5: “Monster’s Ball”). Although, it should be noted that “Monster’s Ball” not only aired on Halloween, but it was also pre-empted in New York City, one of its biggest markets. Still, it’s nice to see The Vampire Diaries hold its own against ratings juggernaut The Voice. In fact, TVD even tied The X-Factor!

While TVD earned a 1.2 in the 18-49 demo, the CW’s freshman series Reign didn’t necessarily benefit from the bigger lead-in. Reign stayed steady at 0.6 in the demo, which is good for the CW, but not exactly the kind of numbers it wants to at this point in the season. While Reign’s fate is still up in the air, it’s clear The Vampire Diaries is inching closer to that Season 6 pick-up.

What do you think, TVD fans? Did you watch “Handle With Care”? What about Reign? Sound off in the comments!
