The Ravenswood premiere has come and gone, and now it's time for fans to decide if they're going to set their DVR for next week's episode, or give up immediately in a huff of disgust.

We've been wearing our Ravenswood-loving hearts on our sleeves ever since we saw an advanced copy of the episode. When we first heard about this fantasy-infused spin on the Pretty Little Liars world we weren't convinced it was a good idea, but the pilot totally changed our minds.

The main key is the cast. We of course love Tyler Blackburn as Caleb, and Nicole Cale Anderson has already created a heroine we can get behind in Miranda. The rest of the main kids are also intriguing, and we're eager to see more of the creepy, controlling adults who dominate the town.

The curse element also worked for us. In this episode the writers proved that they could convincingly weave likeable characters with a heavy, atmospheric tone. We believe that Ravenswood is a town where curses can be real, murder mysteries happen, and people still care about being in a parade. That dichotomy should make for an interesting tale moving forward.

That said, we can see why some Pretty Little Liars fans might not have been won over. Not only is Ravenswood stealing Caleb away, but it's a very different kind of show than Pretty Little Liars. It's not as snappy and face paced, and obviously not everyone who looks teen murder mysteries will be all about curses and crying status.
